Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo announce creation of Task Force
(KALAMAZOO, MI: January 15, 2026):
The Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo (CSGK) has announced the creation of a comprehensive Task Force established by The Most Reverend Edward M. Lohse, bishop of the Diocese of Kalamazoo.
The work of the Task Force will focus on the Catholic Schools in Kalamazoo County: St. Augustine Cathedral School, St. Monica Catholic School, Hackett Catholic Prep and Light of Christ Academy. Appointed members of the task force have been directed to take a comprehensive look at how the schools are governed and supported, with an emphasis on long-term strength, stability, vitality, and fidelity to the Catholic faith.
While governance is initially a central focus, the Task Force, informed by nationwide best practices, is also reviewing several related areas that are essential to the health of the four schools. These focus areas include financial stewardship, Catholic identity and mission, enrollment trends, and facilities.
“Together, these areas shape how well our schools can continue to serve families and remain faithful to their purpose in a changing environment,” said Brian Mullally, Chairman.
“Catholic education in Kalamazoo County has endured because of the faith, sacrifice, and commitment of the community that supports it. Through this work we look to honor and build on that legacy and strengthen our commitment to Catholic education.”
As the Task Force continues its work, updates will be shared on the progress made in the areas of focus described above as appropriate.
